We provide advocacy, information and assistance to older adults living in Union and Snyder counties. We help people access the services they need to remain at home or we assist them with nursing home or assisted living placement and related services.
The Union-Snyder Agency on Aging, Inc. (USAA, Inc.) will conduct a Public Hearing on Tuesday, April 23rd at 1pm to obtain comment on its 2024-2028 4 Year Plan. The hearing will be held at 116 N. 2nd Street, Lewisburg, PA 17837 for residents of Union and Snyder Counties.
Written and oral testimony may be given on the 4 Year Plan by persons 60 years of age and older residing in Union and Snyder Counties.
You may testify in person at the Public Hearing or submit written comments to USAA, Inc. by that date. Register to testify by calling (570) 524-2100 or (570) 374-5558. Where possible, those presenting testimony will be grouped by issue area, to provide more continuity in the presentations. Written comments can be emailed to info@usaaa17.org.

National Senior Health and Fitness Day

Evangelical Community Hospital‘s Community Health and Wellness is holding National Senior Health and Fitness Day on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 9 am-noon at The Miller Center, 120 Hardwood Drive, Lewisburg. The event is graciously sponsored by Asbury RiverWoods Senior Living Community.
This local offering of the event is part of the Annual National Senior Health and Fitness Day celebrations going on across the United States. On the last Wednesday in May, more than 100,000 seniors will participate in local health and wellness events at 1,000+ locations across the country. It is designed to provide an overview of resources available in the local community specifically for older adults with the common goal of keeping healthy and fit.
The free health fair-style event is open to the public and individuals are invited to attend the entire time or stop in for a quick visit. The day includes visits with vendors and free health screenings, including blood pressure and bone density facilitated by Evangelical Community Health and Wellness, and a variety of instructor-led activities.
The Lewisburg YMCA will be providing the following special activities where everyone is invited to take part:
• Silver Sneakers Circuit at 9 am
• Silver Sneakers Circuit and Boom Muscle at 10 am
• Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body, an Evangelical Community Health and Wellness education class with Taryn Wilk at 10:15 am
• Pickleball available during the entire event
• Golf simulator demonstrations available during the entire event
